The Electric Lotus series of paintings, finds its inspiration through the transformative nature of yoga. The intention of the artist is to offer a look at the awakening of the human spirit through symbolic images of the lotus flower and the Buddha. The lotus flower being a symbol of divine beauty, and the Buddha representing awaking and enlightenment, offer a glimpse of the students journey on the yogic path. Shannon's inspiration not only stems from the spiritual meaning behind theses images, but from her personal journey as a student and a teacher. The Electric Lotus reveals to us the energy of life in all its ever changing experiences and it evokes the possibility of growth in body, mind and spirit.
