Meet Our Local Team
Meet our Studio Owner and Manager, Michelle Weaver (“Mia”)! I was born and raised in central Iowa (“If you build it, they will come…”), then lived in Indiana for approximately twelve years before I found my way to the great state of Texas (“Everything is bigger!”). I have lived and worked in Dallas for approximately thirteen years and I am so excited to be bringing Yoga Pod to Victory Park in the heart of Dallas.
My background is in the Counseling field as a licensed counselor and I have been in upper management positions in the social services field for 18 years. In addition, I have been a committed student of yoga for 7 years. I also get my groove on and my fitness fix teaching Zumba, Body Works, and Power Circuit which I’ve been doing for nearly five years. I love having the opportunity in each class I teach to help people appreciate their own fitness interests and desires and I am honored to be able to assist folks meet their fitness goals. It is so exciting to know I will be taking my own fitness and yoga practice to the next level as I get my Yoga Teaching Certification at the first Teacher Training offered at my new studio!
Though I have felt proud of my corporate career, I am thrilled to be transferring my knowledge to owning my own vibrant yoga franchise business. I have a great deal of passion for the fitness world with yoga being an integral part of my life. I truly desire to not only run a successful Yoga Pod but also empower others to find their own sense of strength, centeredness, and peace. I can’t wait to meet you all and for each of you to come visit the flagship Yoga Pod in Dallas! Be sure to stop in and say “Hello” and Namaste for awhile!!
Peace and love,
Ela’s classes focus on breath and movement with smooth transitions and fluid flows that enhance strength and flexibility. She inspires her students to take an inward journey by focusing on their breath and letting the flow take over all the worries and anxieties of the day and life.
Ela’s Yoga Journey started back in 2000 as a practitioner. She found Yoga as the best alternative physical activity for her injured knees from her athletics days. In time, she also discovered the spiritual and mental benefits of Yoga and supported her Yoga practice with Tai-Chi and Reiki.
After working with the same instructor for 10 years, Ela got inspired to share the benefits with others and received the Yoga Alliance 200hr teaching certification from Ozge Isin. She couldn’t stop learning in the vast sea of Yoga so Vinyasa Teacher Training, Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, Kids Yoga Teacher Training, Barre Teacher Training followed. She worked with amazing teachers like Ozge Isin, Nicole Ohme, Chris Chavez, Godfrey Devereux over the years and is still learning.
Val Murphy started in fitness as a volunteer for NYC Parks & Rec. teaching cardio kickboxing classes to hospital employees. The positive energy of her students motivated her to pursue fitness full time. She got her certifications in group exercise and personal training from AFAA and is continuing to take workshops to improve her teaching techniques.
Val built her career as a kickboxing trainer but wanted to branch out and teach formats that are low impact, improved flexibility, and strengthened the core; so when she moved from NY to Louisiana, she began teaching barre and yoga. Since then, she’s been helping people discover the slow burn but high energy of barre and the mental and spiritual benefits of yoga.
Since moving to Texas, she’s jumped right into teaching and is excited to be part of the Yoga Pod Dallas team. What motivates her as a trainer is not only helping people reach their fitness goals, but also helping them overcome their insecurities and find strength and confidence they didn’t know they had.
