Before Your Class

The first step toward enjoying a yoga class is to sign up for one.

It’s important that you find a yoga studio which caters to your needs, makes you feel welcome, and has the ability to guide you through the process. That’s exactly what you’ll find here at Yoga Pod Denver West.

We also have a variety of classes from which to choose, including podHOT and podFLOW — though we recommend that most beginners start out with our podBASICS course.

Here, you will learn how to create a foundation for a clean, safe, and fulfilling yoga practice. Our certified instructors will guide you through each pose, ensuring that you are moving at a pace that is comfortable for you. You’ll also learn how to connect your breath to each movement, which is a critical aspect of a safe and rewarding practice.

Once you’ve chosen a class at Yoga Pod Denver West, you can really begin preparations.

We understand that coming to your first yoga class can be intimidating, which is why we want you to know that we harbor a welcoming, encouraging yoga community. Before you come to class, here are a few things that you need to know:

  • Our Denver West yoga studio harbors yogis of all skill levels, so don’t be intimidated.
  • Feel free to come in early to ask any questions or express any concerns.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before your class to explore the studio and settle in.
  • Be sure to wear comfortable clothing which won’t limit your movement.
  • Bring a mat, towel, and water bottle — our studio offers mat and towel rentals, and we have fountains on-site for water.

During Class

During your first yoga class, you will learn the benefits of yoga and begin to lay the foundation of a proper practice.

Again, your first yoga class should not be an intimidating experience — leave it to your instructor to guide you through each movement, and listen to your body as you connect your breath to your postures. Throughout the class, you will begin to learn about the wonders of yoga, though it is more than acceptable to listen to your body and take breaks whenever needed.

Keep in mind that your yoga class is a no-judgement zone, and your abilities will only improve as you progress through multiple classes.

After Class

Once you’ve finished your first yoga class, there’s a good chance you will be clamoring for more. With yoga, it’s not uncommon to feel some sort of “high” — simply because of the breathing, movement, and exploration that is involved.

Talk with your instructor to ask about other class styles and options, how to continue on your journey toward self exploration, and how to get the most out of your practice.

Then once you’re ready, it’s time to sign up for class number two! You can choose to continue on with podBASICS, or you can explore the benefits of other classes such as podFLOW, podHOT, YIN, and even podFIT to switch up the routine. Take a look at our schedule of yoga classes here.

Now that you know what to expect from your first yoga class, what are you waiting for? Sign up for a free week at Yoga Pod Denver West to get started.
